Home safe and sound.

After bacon, toast and cereal we had our final two activities. These included fencing, problem solving and indoor initiatives. The last chance for children to do outdoor laser, Nightline and Jacob's ladder.

We opted for a picnic lunch today and sat out on the grass together before climbing on the coach to head for home, waving Paul goodbye.

The journey was filled with the tunes of " My name is Mrs Friend, and do you know what I've got?...................." and "Boom Chicka". No doubt these chants will be heard around Staplehurst for the next few weeks.

Happy reunions followed and homework was set.........just GET SOME SLEEP!

Thank you to all the lovely Year Sixes who made a school journey an absolute pleasure. Your parents should be very proud of you.

See you Monday,

Mrs Friend

Our last full day.

Another beautiful sunny day which started with delicious croissants.

Everyone has produced an animated film with music in ICT and will be having it copied to disc to watch back at school.
Bravery and teamwork were the order of the day with everyone enjoying "Crate Stack". Working co-operatively to build a tower of crates for a friend to stand on was the challenge. The fun bit was watching them fall!

The harnesses and helmets are now fitted with lightening speed. This did lead us to our quote of the day, late this afternoon, when one of the girls said that she needed to "waisten the loose". I think we all knew what she meant.

Food has included pizza, pasta, pie and sausages and a very good apple crumble.

Everyone is dancing at the disco at the moment, and smiling from ear to ear.

It has been a fabulous, if tiring, week and your children have been a pleasure to be with.

We look forward to seeing you tomorrow about 2p.m. when we will return your brave, tired, happy children to you.

Midweek Action (and a bit of football.)

A definite lie in today - 7 a.m.

Breakfast was sausages - followed by the chance to balance, with a friend, on a seesaw 30 ft off the ground. " High Equilibrium" - A true test of nerve and friendship.

"Nightline" is when each group has to negotiate their way around an obstacle course blindfolded. This needs trust and good listening skill and was extremely interesting to watch.

"Jacob's Ladder" is an enormous ladder where pairs of children help each other up to the next stage. Good co-operation skills are vital.

Lunch was burgers and dinner was a very good curry.
Each meal has a good range of choice, and lots of fruit and salad on offer.
Some of the children are even eating green vegetables!

A perfect afternoon involved a dip in the pool and the chance to try out a canoe capsize. Excellent news on such a warm afternoon. We even had a good giggle swapping bad jokes after the swim before heading back to the rooms to change for evening activities.

11 boys decided to forgo their swim to watch the England match. We invaded one of the teachers' lounges and watched in comfort. Come on England!!

Dance mat competitions and indoor laser are the evening activities and then it is off to bed!

Super fun in the sun!

A good night's sleep was followed by a beautiful sunny day which started, for some at 5.30!

Lots of suncream was applied, water drunk and nerves were really tested.
Bacon, toast, cereal and fruit set us up for the day and gave us the energy for the seven activities which each group has undertaken.

Every group had the opportunity to have a go on the 3G swing, but no one screamed quite as loud as Mrs Friend. It was a real adrenaline rush.

Quote of the day, from one lad was "Are we going on the G string next?" Classic!

Lunch was chicken or sausage rolls and dinner was a very popular choice of hotdogs or gammon. The vegetarians and children with food intolerances are being well looked after, and the much needed carbs are being rapidly consumed.

Many people were brave enough to take the "Leap of Faith", climb, abseil or try "High Equilbrium" and lots and lots of photos have been taken.

Aeroball has been a big hit and they continue to work on their computer game programs.

This evening is our "Pool Party" and good way to cool down after a warm and busy day.
Tired but still smiling!

A good start

We all arrived safe and sound and, after a tour of the centre, were allocated our rooms.

Lunch was good - pasta or hotpot, after which we overheard the "quote of the day" - The food is well good. It tastes like my Nan's cooking and she is a great cook.

This afternoon everyone, including Mrs Friend and Mrs Hynes, have thrown themselves into things, on the Zip Wire. Some have abseiled, others have participated in archery and everyone is creating their own computer game in ICT.

Tonight after sausages, or fish for tea, everyone is running around with laser guns!

Hot chocolate next, at 9:00. And then off to bed.

Everyone is still smiling.

Not long now!

Only 24 hours to wait now!

Remember - you need to be able to carry your own bag, so pack carefully and find a little space to put your teddy.

A few of you still need to hand in your pocket money and some need to bring in any medication, that you need for the week, clearly labelled with your name.

Go to your normal classroom, when the bell goes and ask your Mums and Dads to wait outside if they want to wave us goodbye.

See you all in the morning. :)

The weather is looking up!

Although it is raining today, the forecast is looking good for the week ahead.

Follow the link below to check the forecast when you are packing. It looks sunny at the moment, so pack the sun cream and a hat.

We are in England though, so throw in a jumper or two and light weight raincoat, just in case!

Full of excitement

Year Six are off to Kingswood, Ashford, on Monday. A weekend of packing, labelling and excitement lies ahead.

Please remember to pack a water bottle, which you can take to your activities. If the weather is kind to us, we'll need it!
I will try to put an update on this blog each day, so that friends and family at home can find out what we have been doing.
Enjoy!
